It all started with a pair of scissors and a post-it…

REALIZE A BOOK
In December 2019 in collaboration with photographer and photo-educator Mette Frandsen, we held our first REALIZE A BOOK-workshop. The workshop progressed over 2 weekends and the end result was beautiful dummy-books made of a range of creative photo-projects.

During the workshop we go over editing, sequencing, design, inspiration and book-making. We help with fresh eyes and professional sparring to make sure the idea behind the project is visible for other eyes than your own. We discuss and explain, go back and forth and most important of all, we create. Long days disappear in an instance, and hard work pays off.

If you’re interested in this kind of workshop, please let us know, connect on SOME or sign up for our Newsletter.

Who are we?
The workshop is held by two photo book crazy and passionate photographers, Mette Frandsen and Julia Mejnertsen.

Mette has been a teacher and mentor for many years for example at the school Fatamorgana's popular Masterclass. She makes a living by guiding people through the creative process until they are left with a finished and final work. Mette has a trained and exceptional eye for the composition of images and shares her expertise and knowledge with lots of enthusiasm and passion.

Julia is the founder of the Copenhagen-based nano-publishing house, Blankt Papir Press. Julia is an art photographer herself and has brought all her knowledge of handmade, photographic artist books home from Japan. Julia's photobook philosophy stems from the Japanese approach, where the tactile, handcrafted and personal are paramount. Form and content must go hand in hand. She has an in-depth knowledge of self-production and publishing of photo books and was shortlisted for the Kassel Dummy Award in 2018. Julia has taught hand sewing books at Fatamorgana, Copenhagen Film and Photography School, ISSP, KEA etc.
